Breakthrough UK still in business despite Council budget cuts
During October Breakthrough UK staff have been involved in detailed discussions regarding future contracting arrangements with Manchester City Council.
Our current contract with MCC funds the work at our Innovation Centre in Northenden and a considerable amount of the central work of the organisation.
On Friday October 14th the Council discussed the proposed funding cuts to voluntary sector organisations in the City at its Health and Well Being Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Following this meeting the Manchester Evening News published an article which outlined that Breakthrough would lose two thirds of its funding.
For clarification, our full contractual arrangements with the City are still under negotiation and the proposed new contract detailed in the Committee report only relates to the delivery of our Employment Services.
The cuts will inevitably impact on the way Breakthrough delivers its services, but we are working to re-configure the service with as little disruption to clients and staff as possible.
We will be contacting all current users of our Employment Support Services directly very soon but in the meantime Ben Wickens on tel no 0161 947 5140 will be happy to respond to any enquiries from service users.
