Our Outreach Advocacy Workers support disabled people in Greater Manchester to access any services and information necessary to find or maintain successful employment or training. [Image: Photo shows an advocacy team meeting]
In addition we offer training in employment self advocacy skills to disabled people.
We also provide information about employing disabled people to individuals, businesses and organisations in the area. We aim to keep people up to date with what they need to know and provide practical information on removing barriers.
In 2008-2009 we supported:
- 56 disabled people through intensive one to one employment advocacy.
- 61 disabled people to develop and share their employment self advocacy skills.
- 185 people with tailored employment information.
- Over 1,000 people with regular email updates on good practice, legislation and policy initiatives (sign up on the home page).
We also continue to produce our regular FreeWire magazine, based on disabled people's employment experiences. In addition we produce and update several factsheets and booklets each year. These are all available in the Resources section of this website.
