We support disabled people who live in the City of Liverpool into employment, work-related training and further education. We work with disabled people to remove the barriers to gaining and retaining employment, or training for work. We support employers in recruiting and retaining disabled staff.
Between 2010 and 2011 the Liverpool Team achieved…
- 16 people supported into paid work.
- 36 people supported into voluntary work experience/training
- 58 people supported into external training
This service is funded by Liverpool City Council and by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to work with disabled people who live in the City of Liverpool.
Lord Mayor of Liverpool Visits Liverpool Team
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Frank Prendergast made a visit to the Liverpool Breakthrough UK office on Thursday 24th November to see the excellent work the staff are doing to support disabled clients. After meeting members of the staff he spoke to clients Susan Harrison, Tracey Ferguson, Enrique Martinez and Hussain Khan, who all gave a glowing report on how they have been supported by their respective employment officers with job search, application forms, CVs and general confidence building.

Visit to Clifford Holroyde School, Liverpool
After the successful ‘Right to Control’ event at the Radisson Hotel in Liverpool on the 9th of July 2009, Jonathan Shaw MP, Minister for Disabled People, took time out of his busy schedule to visit Breakthrough client Anna Perischine. Anna has being working as a paid receptionist for two years at Clifford Holroyde School in Knotty Ash. He spoke to her about her progress in paid employment and about her volunteer work with Merseyside Police.
